What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

A fellow Sons of Confederate Veterans member and I attended a class on muzzleloading cannons for CW reenacting. We're both bonified now!

Sounds like neat day.

Replaced the Hand Assembly on my 1860 Army.

Still rasping, filing and sanding on a smooth rifle stock. Hard walnut wood burl..

Rereading trigger inleting before I mess it up. Off to bed early to beat the Turkey's off the roost tomorrow.

Received my Quaker stock from Jim Kibler today. I'll be using it for the upcoming carving class held at western Kentucky University. This stock a lot of very even curl. It seems too nice to just practice on. Maybe I can make it half stock rifle or shotgun with it later. I also ordered the chisels and gouges for the class today.

I have a Quaker stock for the Woodsrunner. Haven’t had time to fool with it yet as I’m doing another build. Good luck with yours.

Lunch for the fox ( not a ml but a bsa Scorpio pcp 22 at 30 yards ) I would get 3 years in prison if I had used one of my muzzle loaders in UK. Such is life us hunters are outcasts in England. Ha ha

Not close enough to pop. Had a hen at 20yds. But not legal in spring. Lots of talking in the woods though.

Had a nice Tom coming to the calls for my grandson but he hung up at 80 yards and acted like he saw something he didn’t like. Yesterday was youth day so next Saturday is our opener.

Going to my vacant property to listen for roosting birds tonight. Odds are getting better as more habitat get lost around it.

Three Jakes came up to my decoy. Fifty yards to long a shot. Was a cool and beautiful day out that I will remember next March when I get the itch to get ready to do it again.

Shot my J Garner smooth rifle flintlock. Had it awhile but not really very familiar with it. Had about fifty percent ignitions because of the flint. Had to fool with it every shot. It did seem to shoot about the same with the ball patched or not.

sanded a stock and applied the first coat of oil. stripped 7 coats of polyurethane off it and revealed a gem.
tomorrow i start polishing the furniture. its going to be a Hawkenish carbine with a 22 inch 50 caliber barrel.
