When I have finished building I’ll make real original screws I just have to take them in and out so often during the buildBut PLEASE : NO Allen screws !!!
Thanks! I'll give my dad the credit for those, he taught me to shoot. How long were you in the closet? Sorry, Felonious, I'm an English teacher. Man, I think it's time to retire!
Stunning targets. Congrats!

Beautiful work, I'd love to learn how to turn a lathe.I guess 2nd time was the charm, turned another stopper to the correct diameter. So the horn is finished except for the strap. I ordered a 6’ roll of 1” wide candle wick to use. Im copying the idea from another forum member but I can’t remember who it was to give credit. But I’ll get it done in the next week or so. Got to clean up the mess I made in the shop.
Thanks. Using a lathe isn’t difficult, although there’s a steep learning curve at first. But after you get the basics down it’s easy. Makes a mess though!Beautiful work, I'd love to learn how to turn a lathe.
I bet, I've seen lathe shops with piles of turnings that are as tall as people.Thanks. Using a lathe isn’t difficult, although there’s a steep learning curve at first. But after you get the basics down it’s easy. Makes a mess though!
I encourage you to give it a try. I just have a small WEN lathe, had it 4-5 years and I’m very pleased with it. I can’t do big stuff on it but I’ve made a bunch of boxes, bowls, and cups. I have an inexpensive set of chisels and several nicer ones. But as long as they’re sharp they all work well. The only turning I do now is for accoutrement projects and I do pretty much all the work with just a 1/2” and a 1” skew chisel.I bet, I've seen lathe shops with piles of turnings that are as tall as people.
I've actually been considering getting a lathe and learning how to use it recently, I'm building a treehouse and there are some custom bolts that would be cheaper for me to purchase a lathe and do myself then to just purchase the bolts, plus I get a free laithe out of the deal.
It seems like an incredibly useful skill to know. Now I just need to find a place to put it that the wife won't mind...
Probably not enough for deerOrdered four consecutively bigger pipes to make a laminated golf ball cannon barrel.
Steel/Aluminum/Steel/Aluminum.
Will end up with a .400 wall thickness.
Should hold up fine with 50 grains and a slip-fit ball.
