Well, I went a head and turned a Crepe Myrtle stopper. Looks decent, but I took a little too much wood off even though I was measuring with calipers. I’ll make another tomorrow.
If it's not too loose soak the plug in olive oil a few days. Then try it. this will help if damp or wet out, the plug will not swell and possibly split the neck of the horn.

That’s good advice, but it was too undersized. I measured the drill bit for the throat plus a smidge. But forgot that I had gone one size up on the throat!!! Old age creeping in. But I made another one today.

Didn't feel like carrying any steel zoo critters into the woods today, so, out comes a boring paper target.
3F Schuetzen, 50 grains, .480's in a 50 caliber at 25 yards...
For me, that's outstanding....

one fix is to cut shallow rings in the stopper and wrap it with string soaked in glue. not being pc i use super glue :D

I'm finishing up my self moving target today. The small yellow line pulls the target back and forth across the stainless steel guy wire on a pulley that hangs down a few feet to direct my shots into the ground as a backstop (and also the large pile of wood I use as a backstop) it goes about 150 feet. I need to get a few different pulleys to finish. The guideline is way above the target on one side, and at an almost 45° angle on the other side, so I hope it won't get shot out.

It's my intention to hang milk jugs from it and pop them with a shotgun. Then I can just reel in the blown up jug, put a new one on, and go again, without having to leave the deck.

Those other little targets blocks are for my BB gun.

the local gs had a bunch of old muzzleloader supplies and three guns one 58 replica arms zuave one Hawken
50 cal Lyman. And a new never assembled gpr 50 cal flint from 92 in original box. I got two half full dupont black rifle ffg cans a short starter with bore guide and a pile of .54 cal maxi balls for 10. Bucks. The 2 rusty barrel guns were 100. A pop and gpr kit was 500.00 . I was happy spending 10.
