I made some gaps inletting a lock plate. Exciting!
Those are used for wadding in my smooth bores. I’ll use a piece over the powder and another over the shot or ball. I have even used them in a .50 caliber rifle with a .495 ball. Just load powder, wad of wasp nest, round ball and another wad of wasp nest. What do you use those for in shooting?
Got the Pedersoli Kentucky down. It`s always had a stiff single trigger and floppy trigger to boot. After reading the trigger is mounted too low and needs more inletting or the trigger hinge pin re drilled higher. After looking at it decided to try just wrapping the trigger sear/ trip lever with copper wire?. A very simple process and nothing of the original lock changed. Well the floppy trigger is gone and trigger pull is most defiantly lightened ,I would say by about half. Always hated that trigger!!
A bit odd-looking, but it's a flint. I don't see anything objectionable, much less unmentionable. Looks accurate.Tried working up a load for this thing. It held a pretty tight group when shooting two handed at 25 yds. One handed was abysmal as expected. I have a feeling I'll be swapping grips out for something a little slimmer.

I'm not sure of any rules against posting pictures of these "abominations." Please be gentle.
All I can say is WOW what lock are you using looked like a Bess but that would be too largeHello Everyone!
I recently finished my .54 Kibler Colonial in fancy maple. I did some very subdued incised carving on the patch box, ramrod molding and near the entry pipe. My first attempt. Not perfect, but I like it. Here is a photo of my second five shot target at 25 yards, benched. I know this rifle will shoot better than me. This target was 65 grains of Goex View attachment 140843View attachment 140844View attachment 140845View attachment 140846View attachment 140847View attachment 140848View attachment 140849View attachment 140850FFG with a .530 ball and .018 patch.
Next are photos of the rifle with accoutrements. My brother made the powder horn and gave me the rifleman’s knife and Virginia axe. We should all have and be such brothers!
Now for some summer fun making smoke!

Shot my Pedersoli Frontier flintlock at 100 yds off hand. 60 grains Schutzen 3fg and a .490 ball. Happy to get on a 10" circle, no wind at all helps. Had 1 pan flash today. Have had a couple here and there. I clean at the range but when I got home I popped the lock off and had a look. I have had this rifle since April, and have shot maybe 100-150 balls through it so far. The lock was very clean with almost no BP residue on it inside. While I had it off I checked the vent hole with a 1/16" drill bit and it would not go all the way through. Thinking maybe a burr in there. So I carefully drilled it all the way through. Should help, will see tomorrow when I shoot. Lubed it up and put it back together. I can see how easy it would be to strip that little wood screw, have to be extra gentle. But since it was clean inside, I won't be pulling the lock off every time.

Made a new front sight and mounted on smoothboreIt’s misty rain west of London, Thinking of draining my 15 ft dia pool and making it go from green to blue , re previous comment Very cool but sitting on patio , chipping away, inletting my flint lock barrel into the stock it’s a bit tedious I must admit . I did buy well buying this slab of 5 cm thick bit of walnut for £54 and it’s made three stocks If I can do it so can you
I wish you well
