Cynthialee,
She started on a Thomson Center and enjoyed it very much. Trigger pull was too long. I have a friend who is a builder and he made the piece in the pics. It’s scaled to her some rooms and just a really sweet rifle.

Yeah, but when I decide to sell some, Betty says "Dale, we don't need the money and we both love the guns, why would you want to sell them?" End of conversation; love that gal. Dale
Your Gem MUST be related to mine! Mine say's "but you made that one didn't you? sell something else, like that old truck you use to terrorize the chickens .

It appears they drilled inserted the nails,(pins) then cinched them over.
Did you buy the pistol?
No, I did not. I bought a bunch of knife making materials at the Atlanta blade show in June. Haven’t had a lot of time to crank out any knives so my spending money is in short supply!! LOL! I am also trying to save up for a Chambers PA Fowler kit.

got a long, heavy, round cardboard tube in the mail today. unfired Lyman great plains flintlock barrel. now to get another plank of wood. should have the fowler finished by thanksgiving, so i need a winter project. thinking of defarbing the barrel except for the name. out of steam so good night.

My 1861 Armisport Springfield repro was having issues and I discovered that the touch hole was way too small and fouling was blocking it. Got it fixed by a buddy with a drill press and all is smooth sailing!

Alan Martin is selling stock blanks on ALR good prices.

Visited the local Opportunity Shop to buy some cloth for patching, wanted some .018, this new linen cotton mix measured .020” so I figured that after it was washed it’d be just about right.
seems that when I measured it I measured two thicknesses; when I got home and unwrapped it, it measured .009”.
I’ll try using it double.

All I did was install the Tennons on my Traditions 50 Cal Kentucky Rifle kit. I let the punch slip off the Tennon an dented the Stock. That'll tick you off! Then I sanded on the stock a while at the dent and to true up where wood meets Brass. Lots of work left to do.

Well I haven’t been able to post since the weekend. Last weekend I shot in the state muzzleloader shoot and had targets that were good followed up by ones that looked like it was someone else shooting. And I got this nice belt axe in the mail

Well, on 8/31/22, I continued sealing the stock for my SMR. Then, I moved to giving my barrel a final look and applying Jax black. I left those to cure until this afternoon, and I see where I am at with the project. The fun continues, the attention to detail increases, and the reward becomes sweeter.

Respectfully

Shot one of my .36 T/C Senecas and my single trigger .32 T/C Cherokee. From the bench both shot well at 25 yards. I hadn't shot either for a few years. My wife used to shoot the .32 single trigger gun and apparently I'd zeroed it well way back when, it was dead on. The .36 shot a bit to the right but was fairly close on elevation. Perfect shooting weather today.

I finally got my Swiss BP order in the mail after having to sell one of my kidneys to afford this stuff. Took it out and compared the Swiss to my home brew BP and all I can say is Swiss set the bar very high.
