... fixed the stock, that is. No, it wasn't broken, but it wasn't what I wanted, so I fixed it anyway. The walnut was nice, but the factory finish was, well, mediocre. Not enhancing the walnut in anyway. So, I fixed the finish. Removed it completely and replaced it with my own finish. Involved lots of elbow grease and finger work. I think it turned out rather nice. More to my liking with enhanced figuring and soft lustre. Worthy of being fixed. Even though isn't wasn't "broken" to begin with.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it"???? BS. If it ain't want you want, then "fix" (aka "change") it.

Excellent job, very well done. Some folks don’t really care for this Pedersoli but I like this style very much. It resembles a Southern Mountain rifle, but with brass hardware. They go with different names such as Blue Ridge, Frontier but all share the common ancestry to Mike Hatfield’s rifle from the 1970’s (?). I think an excellent choice for a factory gun. If the lock sparks well you have a very nice rifle and one that will serve you well.
Enjoy it!

PS I’ve also been guilty of refinishing new factory guns. A lot! Make them how you want them to look.

I've been rough on you, but I do give credit where credit is due. You did a great job refinishing that rifle.

if you ever shoot against my wife she might change your change mind or quiet you down! this is what she can do, and do often, off hand at 50yds with her ****,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,View attachment 246047
Nice shooting.

Calm down.

I was referring to a different type of ****.

I've owned several Pedersolis and they have been good shooters. Sorry about the depth of thought there. My bad.

Looking good! I've got a Pedersoli refinishing project going as well, but I'm at the point to where I need to strip the finish and it's just too hot outside and I've got young kids, so I'm usually pretty wiped by the time I would get to work on it. Gonna have to make a go at it in time to shoot it a bit before deer season.

Mine looked like it skipped pretty much every step in the QC process, so I've had to spend some time filing the brass castings and trimming up the wood to look proper as well. And it wasn't even a pandemic gun.
