    Traditions Shenandoah Rifle

Blackfingers, I got one secondhand in 36cal. Replaced the front and rear sights to personal preference. It is a good but not a great gun. I would like more drop in a stock than this but the gun is accurate , the lock sparks , and using 30gr. 3f with 000 buckshot is cheap enough to shoot...

    GPR Wedge wont go..

Ropes4u, On the left-handed GPR the wedges enter from the left , and the wedges are of different lengths with the longer one used at the rear. Its not a big difference but side by side you can see it. Ric

    Sewing Machines?

ryzman, if you are involved in juried events use the technology of the time period. for some this slavish attention to detail is rewarding fun. let them enjoy it. when i have a project i split the difference and use an eldridge treddle vibrating shuttle sewing machine that my wife's grandma...

    Powder behind lockplate fix???

sky chief, check the area where the inside of the pan fence rests next to the side of the barrel flat. I've had a couple flinters where that fence edge stood just proud enough to prevent the rest of the lock from seating correctly in the inlet. just had to gently grind/file that edge down a...

Finally decided on a Crockett Rifle

capt. augustus, congratulations on the acquisition of your new crockett 32. it is a great little gun. you have already mentioned that the breech tends to grab the cleaning patch. in the past i have resorted to the use of a small john deere to pull the ramrod free. yesterday i used a...

    Crockett Load??

mike, just checked three traditions instructions booklets. they are general and cover all cal. one did not list 32. one had 10gr. 3f as most accurate and 25gr. 3f as max, the third listed 20g 3f the most accurate and 35gr 3f as the max. ?????? i use 15-20gr 3f ,310 ball and a 15 patch ...

any info on the shennadoah by traditions

ron, gpr = great plains rifle by lyman. and i need to add a correction. the front sight replacement used was one intended for a lyman pistol. i found the sights at' the gun works'. sorry about the misinformation. ric.

any info on the shennadoah by traditions

ron, just read your experience with a shenandoah. a while back i picked up a used one in 36 flint. same reaction to yours with the sights and the way the rifle shoulders. replaced the sights, the rear with one intended for a traditions trapper pistol and the front with one for a gpr. both...

    12 Ga Shotgun Help

yes, that is the article. I found it about a year ago after getting a ml 12ga. Since the stub twist barrels are older than anybody I know, I don't need to test their absolute limits. As long as it patterns decently at 25yds and passes a coffee can test you have a working base load. For...

    Gap between pan and barrel.

padre, check the inside face of the pan fence where it rests against the barrel flat. i've had two rifles where this was the case and it held the rest of the lock out of alignment. i ground it down a bit till i had the tolerance.

    Traditions Crockett .32cal pistol

regulis7, i've got one but have'nt used it enough to be good with it. 10 grns. fff gets the job done. as has been mentioned the trigger was sloppy, side to side play and too long a pull to engage the sear. a piece of brass sheet and solder, and a plastic washer cut from an empty milk bottle was...

    Uberti repo 1862 police

firelock, I have the "62"pocket police,6.5"barrel,using the same powder, ball, wad combo as you did, with about the same results...high by 8-10 inches. Between checking Lymans loading tables and running a ballistics program it looks like the little beauty zeros at about 100yds. peaking +13ins. at...

    Deerhunter plastic sights

g'day zodd, search and check out, rmc sports, the v peep combo was my choice. they have other sights as well. keep and reuse the traditions screws though. as i recall that front plastic sight was none too robust. good luck, ric

    crockett 32

navaho, sorry for the delay in responding but i was gone for a week. the part numbers for the ones i used are 3090117 for the rear and 3090118 for the front or3090106 as acombo set. these are metric and used for lymans but fit some traditions and maybe some cvas as well.

    crockett 32

cketnavaho, just recently replaced the original sights on my crockett with a lyman metric set. front is a post and bead, the rear a folding leaf ajustable for elevation. you still have to drift for windage. once set they work like fi xed sights and seem to be a bit kinder to aging eyes. check...

    New Crocket .32-Questions

steve, while you are at wal-mart or where ever picking out ticking and flannel for patching, ask for a lingerie bag. its a mesh bag with a zip closure and for cheap. put your dirty cleaning patches in there and run them through the washer and dryer. they'll be crumpled and stained but...

    Traditions Shenandoah

Damascus, Big Brown left a lightly used, not abused, nearly new Trad. Shenandoah .36 flint on my doorstep this morning. It joins three other Trad. MLs,flint and caplock, and a GPR. They are all what I would call "store" guns. All were reasonably priced but only the Trad. Deerhunter was what I...
