    T/C Firestorm

A good hunting load for me was 90 grains ffg, over powder card, over powder felt wad, 370 grain bore buttered TC maxiball.

    Wasted Tag!

I think there may be some hawks, owls, and small birds etc. as well as any other critter that can find a way to that carcass that may have a much easier winter due to the food cache youve unwillingly provided. Although you feel terrible when something like this happens, as long as you have done...

See if you can find a copy of "Recreating the 18th Century Powder Horn by Scott and Cathy Sibley.

    soldering help

I used the same method as birddog6 on front sights and it worked well for me. I have also used some clear epoxies to hold sights and they all stayed on in the field. I do not have any left to tell you the brand name, sorry.

    hunting-shooting downhill

A few years back a shooting instructor told me to hold a little low when shooting up or down hill at game within the optimal range for your load, rifle and skill. So as others have said a little practice should go a long way increasing your skill and confidence. that advise has helped me...

    Longrifle too long for hunting?

My 58 poorboy is more of a challenge to handle especially in blinds or permanent stands than conventional firearms or carbines. But I will not stop hunting with it, in fact I prefer using it over my more modern muzzleloaders and centerfires. I bet you will enjoy hunting with your rifle too!

    Not working.

    getting into shotguns

I like my 12 ga Pedersoli s x s. I have taken turkey, ducks, and pheasants. I have a set of 5 chokes for mine. My loads have been 80 grains of FFG BP over powder card and paper shot cartridge. I have also used plastic wads, but the paper patterns as well. shot charge is usually 1 and 1/4 oz...

Ever use TC Maxi Ball or other??

I have used them in 1 /48 twist TC percussion and flint rifles with very good results on the range and to kill whitetails. Never exceeded 100 grains of Goex 2 f under the bullet. Longest shot was about 80 yds but most were 50 yds or less.

Do you prefer to hunt from the trees or the ground for deer?

I still hunt, use ground blinds, and also have an enclosed stand made 8 ft off the ground on a old fuel drum stand. Shot deer using all of them but like the enclosed stand in our late Nov. gun season.

    TC Firestorm Flintlocks

Do any of you use TC Firestorm Flinters for hunting /shooting? Do you like them? I also have traditional poorboy flinters in 11 ga smooth and 58 rifled. I would like to add a TC to my collection for hunting. I have had TC sidelock percussion rifles in the past that took a few deer. I really...

    Flintlock and geese-what a blast!

NICE SHOOTIN! Have you or Barron tried the new soft shot carried by BPI in your muzzleloaders? I have late period tags for the Horicon zone only because we have a farm there. Shot ducks with a Pedersoli 12. This year I want to try geese with my 11 ga flinter jug choked modified. Some...

    Low pattern

I had the same problem on a percussion side x side. I soldered a rear fixed site on (to stay somewhat traditional), which forces me to raise the front bead. Ive used it successfully to harvest ducks and pheasants on the wing and one tom turkey standing at 25 yds.

Who has the best prices on pedersoli sxs

    What are these?

The Mowrey looks like a rifle still made in the 1990s by Deer Creek. I used to own one. I think I paid about $375 for it new.

    felt wad under patched ball?

I use them in a 58 and ditto all the positive statements made above!

    Jug choke-What to expect?

I jug choked a custom 11 ga. smoothie with a brake hone. Near as I can tell it is modified. My range is still 30 to 35 yds, but pattern much improved over open choke. I have patterned on turkey targets, but no pictures. Best patterns were 90 gr ffg 2 over powder felt wads, 2oz heavy shot #5...
