    how to lube a patch

I use mink-oil for hunting only or if it's below freezing and I'm stupid enough to go to the range. Just rub it in with your fingers and place in a bag. For the range and above freezing temps just use what God gave you...spit.

    Goex FFFG

I have always found Powders Inc to have the best prices. Go for the KIK not USA made but IMHO a better powder and cheaper.

swamped barrels, What purpose did they serve

Swamped barrels IMHO make for a more pleasant rifle to walk around the woods with hunting, that being said I believe a properly balanced rifle with a straight barrel makes for a more stable rifle to shoot offhand due to the extra weight up front.

    Homemade patch lube recipes?

Paul is correct regarding spit and hunting loads. I should have been more specific. I use mink oil for all hunting loads including small game regardless of temps. For range work and the temps are above freezing nothing beats spit.

    Rice Barrels

Are you building one yourself and can't wait or you have a gunsmith lined up and he's ready to go? Two months is not that long for a barrel.

    Wedge key question?

If the pin is internal how does the slot come into play if it's hidden and if it works on a spring how do you depress it so the key can be removed.

    Horn Strap From October Country

Hello, For Christmas I received an October Country Horn Strap. It's the leather single carry with the laces on the end and slits. Can't figure out the correct way to attach it to the staple on the back and the horn itself up front. Anyone have one and maybe can explain. I contacted...

    It's a family tradition

I would venture to say the reason is so when it blows up it's not right next to your face. :( Did you also notice the rags wrapped around some of the guns by the breech end of the barrel. I'm guessing thatis to keep schrap metal from being blown very far. No offense but after watching that...

    Argh!

Copper tubing sounds like a great idea. I wouldn't bother trying to attach a rod to the end, just get a piece about a foot longer than your barrel so you have a good long end to work with and have a go at it. Curious to know how it works out for you...good luck.

    Pull Load at Days End??

I'll leave mine loaded for a week or two with no issues. I clean the barrel and lock with alcohol and let it dry before loading and the gun never comes in the house once it's been uncased outside. I dump the pan, bunch up a cleaning patch and close the frizzen on it so the touch hole is...
