    54/28ga for turkey..?

Number 6 shot will provide a denser pattern and still maintain the energy you need out to 25 yards. 30 yards if you gun happens to pattern well at that range. You never know until you try. Experiment and see how it works. Use a marker of some kind when you are hunting. A tree, stump etc located...

    Extremely cold weather hunting

I quite often do the same thing. At night I bring my rifle inside and set it someplace warm to make sure any moisture that might have been absorbed during the day will dry off before morning. I wipe the pan clean and keep the vent open to help dry off any evil moisture. Pat Cameron

    My new squirrel rifle

Tip has a way of parting a man from his cash. He does it by offering great value for your hard earned dollars. That is an incredible example of what a flintlock rifle should look like. Graceful lines present part sultry piece of sculpture, part deadly accurate tool. PJC

    First smokepole buck

A great story and fine picture. He is a trophy to be proud of. I suggest getting that photo framed. It is a lot cheaper then getting it mounted and tells more of a story. The hunter, the gun, the weather, the woods, the deer. Perfect. PJC

I saw the weather forecast for Minnesota lately. I do not think you shot those squirrels. I think you found them frozen to the side of a tree! Seriously, Nice hunt. Thanks for sharing. PJC

First flint buck with $5 rifle

I think you should call your gun LUCKY. Not that any skill was't involved in the harvest. But Lucky to win it and Lucky to harvest a nice buck. I foresee a lot of great hunts in the future. PJC
