I don't see a huge difference in concealability between 5.5inch and 3 inch bbl due to the size of the frame and grip. I do see a huge difference in sight radius and velocity.
Firstly not a whole lot of aiming involved at 10yards. Secondly personally I can line up a shorter sight radius faster. Thirdly the way I carry appendix a 5.5in barrel stabs me in the junk when I sit down. Might not conceal any better but definitely more comfortable.

I get it. you think you know everything because you are 18yrs old and you really don't know a whole lot. We were all there once. Most of us lived to learn a few things. some of us did not... If your rig is stabbing you in the junk your not doing it right and you just might lose your junk. Just ask Plaxico Burgess or Corporal Hoobler. Can't ask Corpral Hoobler because he bled out when that .32 he had in his waistband went off and severed his femoral artery. The Only way to safely carry concealed is in a holster that covers the trigger and with a SAA type revolver also covers the hammer.

I bought the sheriff with the 5.5in barrel and am looking for a good load that would work on deer. Ik I'm barking up the wrong tree with the short barrel but I think it's possible. I have a 200gn deep hollow point for 45acp that I think will work wonderfully. I think I can cram 35gn of pyrodex under it. What velocity am I looking forward to. I want to use a heavy HP to make up for the short barrel and help the powder burn and I don't want over penetration because it will all so be my carry pistol. No I'm not a felon I'm 18 and the founding fathers said I should be able to carry a gun so I will. For the record I absolutely love the 58 Remington my 1860 army is great and all but it just doesn't tickle my fancy the same.
I’ve been shooting perc revolvers for almost 60 yrs and I would NEVER carry one for self defense, neither would Hickock today. If you do, carry a police whistle as well, it might be useful in a cap jam or miss fire moment.

there is a little pointy thing on the end of the barrel. chances are darn good that if your not looking at that thing at 10 yards then you're not a lot of aiming involved approach turns into a whole lot of missing when shooting under stress.

He seems like a well balanced young man from here. And clean cut enough that if polite to police he won't be hauled down to "sort things out". 1St thing you say is "officer I have a gun in my_____" Yer almost always good to from there (unless you are racially handicapped)

Good because my holster covers the hammer and trigger

Hmmm I've shot enough that I'll bet you I can remove the front sight and at ten yards dump it as fast as I can on a human shaped targets and not miss one shot.

Well it sure beats the pocket knife I carry because that's what the law says I can. I'm working with what I have. Feel free to stand in front of it I'm fairly certain it will go off

And to add to that it's stupid to say it needs to cover the trigger. Trigger dose **** all when the hammers down here's a picture to explain it to you.

I believe he feels "picked on". I saw no need for the more than through explanations, I could "get" what he was saying. Chill and mentor guys. He never said he stuffs the thing in his pants for anything but the car to the house and back and we have all done similar.
That and the guy has been nit picking every little thing. And when I give proof and a valid argument he comes up with something else to come after. That's why I reloaded it so many times to prove it can be done. And that it can be done out of a pocket. I cited ballistic data and common sense as proof that it is more than enough power to stop someone. I have explain that cap jams won't happen because my caps are glued on and that Remingtons almost never cap jam. I said more than once that it's a car gun and not intended to be carried. Then to top it off I do have a carry holster for it if I did want to carry it. So dispite all of that people will still find a way to not pick at me with little to no proof to back it up. I'm not scared to back up any of my statement and I showed that with the reloading. I don't talk out of my ass and it shouldn't be so unbelievable that I have been doing this since I was 5 or 6.

If you have no choice, you have no choice, keep it clean, hold low..

I am sorry I misunderstood you. I thought you had said you were just sticking the gun in your belt sans holster. if you want safe carry the holster needs to cover the hammer of a SA revolver and the trigger. what happens when the guy shooting at you is behind hard cover only exposing head and gun and the gun is spitting lead at you. still think your going to point shoot yourself out of that mess without sights......

OK now you are really acting like a teenager. you posted a video of you carrying with the pistol stuck directly in your belt without holster and then when you get called out on that not being safe instead of saying good thought, I should use a holster, you simply change your story and say of course I use a holster.

A real bad-ass with an unresolved power conflict and a potential poster child for the gun control lobby. I’m convinced now - some people shouldn’t even own guns.

No I said I have a holster if I wanted to carry it. i should have specified that when I carry it in my belt it's for the sole purpose of going to my car and thats my fault.

I'm not sure I get your point. What do you mean by unsolved power conflict? I have no intention to bulldog anyone or act like a fool just bc I have a gun. But if I'm in traffic with my window down in tx bc I have no ac and some guy gets mad and decided to come up to my car with a rifle I would be very glad I have a cap and ball instead of a knife. I'm sure it would be better for me to just die for the greater good but honestly I'm pretty selfish and Im not willing to do that so yeah if that makes me a poster child then whatever.

I would love an explanation on why the trigger needs to be covered. The hammer I can maybe get but the trigger makes no sense to me. And if I'm being shot at from hard cover.....good thing is I do have sights secondly I royaly screwed up to get myself into that situation. And thirdly I could carry a gun with a 6in sight radius or a 2 inch sight radius because I would have enough rounds through the gun that it wouldn't matter the sight radius because I practiced so much. A longer sight radius is nice and all but I know people that can outshoot me at 40 yards with a 4in and me shooting at 20 with a 6in. Because when you shoot alot you get better. My point was at the most common self defense distance and the most common self defense situation a 6 shot revolver with a 3 in barrel is fine. Yes a gang member could have a full auto ar and level 4 plates but I'm not going to carry an m14 with ap In case that happens.

Lastly you said at 10 yards not using the sight I would do a whole lot of missing. I said I can take the front sight off and prove you wrong if you want. I didn't say I would carry it that way. I would remove the front sight because you would accuse me of using it. Call my bluff and I'll prove it next time I go shoot. I'll drift the sight out and shoot from 10 yards and do my best to empty the gun as fast as I can. If you want I can do it on 2 different targets human sized of course because fair is fair.
