about 5 years ago they brought to our state the crass deer tags. they let you "transport" 3 bucks with those tags and 5 does, i think. they are a joke! up until that there was no limit on how many bucks you could kill. it is all about money! i usually kill about 7-8 deer a year. i give a lot of meat to older folks and women. the thing is all the old boys here just take the transport tag off the deer when they get it home or processor and use it again! the tags are not turned in or checked. it is a bunch of foolishness! we are overrun with deer. as many as are killed and as long as our season is the deer thrive!
The state will do this for a while to get you used to the idea, then they will take it a step further some time in the future.

Do you actually think "baiting" deer is hunting? Do you really want a deer that bad? What ever happened to actual "hunting", like slow walk, still hunting, etc?
haha, come on down to the lowcountry of SC where i am and give it a try without corn big boy! you would fall flat on your face and go hungry! where we are ain't like the fields of Akin, some of our woods are so thick you can't see 50yds! and the deer ain't like the tame ones on the videos either!

I hunted PA woods and there was rarely a shot over 30-50 yds without hitting a tree! Lots of underbrush & scrub too. If SC has such a high limit it can't be that hard to get one. I am in the Aiken area and deer are scare here. Perhaps where you are there are more, but still "baiting"? Really? It is suppose to be about hunting I thought? Or is it just about getting deer?

well i would guess that originally you are from up north and have not a clue what you are talking about when it comes to hunting around here! just like i do not know about deer elsewhere, the game department here has no problem with it, because they know how difficult it is to hunt these deer. sometimes you can go 12-15 times and never see a deer, even with corn! and we have a lot of deer!

I am a little confused. What is a "crass deer tag"? Is that just for transportation only or are you only allowed to kill 3 bucks and 5 does in the entire season? Maybe you are just being critical of the fact that you have to buy a tag to shoot a deer? Here in South Dakota you need a tag for every deer you kill-$40 fee for an "any deer" tag and $30 for an "anterless tag" and you must apply for them in a lottery hoping you get drawn, except for the muzzleloader anterless deer tags which can be bought over the counter (only 1 muzzleloader tag per year). Not trying to be critical of your post, I am just curious of how deer tags actually work there.

Pa you got a license, then yo got a tag (1) buck and (1) doe usually. Some years it was two, but not often.

yes, crass because it is lacking intelligence! i do not believe any of this dose a thing to improve deer! why should a man be forced to put up with government rules on his own land! we never have had any of this intrusion before, and the deer got by just fine without giving these public servants extortion money! we always have had deer jumping like fleas on a dog. the nine most terrifying words in the English language are, (i am from the government and here to help) Ronald Reagan,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

What part of the past are you living in? In this day and age "wildlife management is part of all State programs? It is designed to help pay for the management of all wildlife, fish , fowl, or mammal...are yu saying the glorious State of SC does not need management and that everyone with their own piece of land will do what is correct, legal and proper? Or is it , you should be able to do what ever you want to do on your piece of land?

we have the longest deer season in the country, maybe, on private land it goes from Aug. 15-jan1

If one is a 'traveling man', he can start hunting deer in the rut beginning at the end of July in far south Florida and hunt continuously until the first part of March by just going north every month or so until the panhandle season ends. Approximately 219 days in a row this season all in the same state.

I've never done it as public hunting land is scarce in south Florida while bugs and 90+ deg. weather is all too common. 🤬

Don't know the laws there but here in Missouri game is considered the property of the people, private ownerships of wildlife are not considered. An MDC agent can come on your property at any time. Baiting (feeding) has to be stopped two weeks before the season opens.
This might be an issue for property owners with less than 15-20 acers, deer travel pretty far looking for food. Myself I have 78 acers and don't use feeders. food plots are not considered baiting, so I have put out 6 acers of turnups, 4 acers of sunflowers and 50 apple trees, plus I leave several round bales of hay out for whatever might use them, and they make pretty good blinds also.

i am living in the past i guess, and yes! people will do what is basically right on their own land without the government sticking their nose into our business! believe it or not people and animals got by just fine long before the gov. ever "helped" us! a man that has his own land and wildlife in most cases does not want to destroy it! and the idiots that don't care, don't care! those people will do what they want to regardless of laws and gov. management. in "this day and age" (whatever that means) it all comes down to what it always comes down to with government, money, power, and control. mostly money! they create the monster then they have to feed the monster. and yes, a man should be able to do what he wants to with his own property without orders from a bureaucrat,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
