 Tried the snot yesterday - worked great!

Thank you Stumpy!

It worked with both, conicals and prelubed patches.
It reminded me a bit to milking grease. I tried that stuff and it´s not bad but mineral oil based.
Does it´s job in case of keeping the fouling soft and so on good. But you can clearly see on the floor of our indoor-range that the patches with milking grease sometimes gleam after shooting...

Well, back to the snot. I´m addicted.
And I would also like to try the Moose Marrow.
Thank you for sharing this recipe with me too!
But I need a little more information on the witch hazel... :surrender:
I know the plant, Hamamelis Virginiana, but what do I need for the recipe? Is that some kind of oil?
I only knew the plant so far because you can get it over here to put it in your garden. Looks nice.
So, before I dig out my neighbours witch hazel plant :haha: and get in trouble with him...
... could you please be so kind to help me a little more?

Witch Hazel is an astringent you can buy in the drug isle. It's clear and usually in a plastic bottle. Cheap stuff. It's usually near the isopropil alcohol and stuff like that.

Don't go digging up your neighbors garden. :haha:

The witch hazel is a vegetable oil on it's own and adds to the "smear" capabilities. I tried wiping the various versions of lubes I was formulating on glass and the lube with witch hazel wipes further and smoother than without. It has some propery that makes the beeswax less prone to bead up the other oils.

Why is beyond me. I know as an astringent it links protiens (which is what makes your skin tighten when you use it).

You got my Curiosity up. What is Moose snot and what is the formula.
I'm always looking for different ways to blow up the kitchen.

Aha! I was wondering about why Witch Hazel was part of the recipe. Thanks for the info.

Again: Thank you!

I´ll get me some witch hazel...
... and then back into the laboratory... :stir:

Do you add the witch hazel at last or maybe before the hot wax comes in?
