First got interested in BP in about 79. Read Foxfire 5 while researching a paper I was writing. I was amazed at the stories about Mr. Gussler, Hacker Martin and espescially Jim Chambers, someone sort of from my generation and a fellow V Vet. Wondered who this "Earl Manning" was and how he knew so much about BP rifles! Lord was I dumb...still am. Anyhow, Uncle kept me pretty busy for a few years and I finally settled down and started this addiction three years ago. I don't ever plan to quit. Thanks to all who served before me and to all those who came after and are still keeping the faith.

You may want to leave it at that Musketman!   :redthumb:

Does being stopped as a college kid by the MPs at the Presidio count?

Amen, OJ! I was mechanized Infantry but all the humping I did, I'm not sure if we were supposed to ride on those things (113 APC) or just work on 'em! I never had to hump a base plate or mortar tube, but I carried a '60 for more than a few miles.
Made a few trips in the Blackhawks and chinooks. I absolutely loved flying in the Blackhawk, but I'd rather listen to dogs bark than ride in another shithook!
While I'm on that topic, I watched a program on the Military channel a couple weeks ago that had tears streaming down my face by the end. It was called, In the Shadow of the Blade." It was a documentary about a couple guys who flew a Huey across the country and hooked up with former crew mates, wounded transports, or family members of people killed in Viet Nam. Awesome, awesome show. If you get a chance, see it.
Thanks to all who have made the sacrifice. Thanks to all who have picked up where we left off and continue the fight for freedom! God Bless America! Hoo Ahh!!!
Rick

My respect to all fellow veterans of all branches of service! The ground pounder will never be out of work, that's for sure!

Uncle Sams Motorcycle Club active duty 1970 - 1976 infantry at first then to MAG 32 and then to Embassy Duty (Moscow, Belgrade, Bern). I had a great experience and I truely loved The Corps. Then after 6 years,I went into the Active Reserves as a "Non-Obligore" at the Washington Navy Yard while getting a Bachelors Degree. The reserve unit I was assigned to proved to be less than inspirational, a safe heaven for officers and enlisted men from Capitol Hill and a resounding disapointment. I still recall turning in my 782 Gear and being happy about it. :results:
