I bled pretty bad and have a cut but it looks like it is not going to swell so I think I am good to go. In retrospect the "nose to charging handle" technique I use with modern stuff probably contributed to this happening.

The most fortunate thing was the range was empty and there were no witnesses.

Went to our county historical society to research my wife’s family and could not resist snapping some pics. The gun case was impossible to photograph straight on and the guns were positioned lock down

Shot three recent Colt repro pistol purchases. An Uberti 3rd Model Dragoon, Pietta 1861 Navy, and an Uberti 1862 Police. Cue happy dance, all shot well with no cap jams, maybe I need to buy some Lotto tickets. Loaded the Dragoon with 50 grains 2f Swiss and lubed felt wad and .457 balls which shot well. Switched to 35 grains, lubed wad and Eras gone conical which shot slightly lower but still way high. Interestingly the rammer fit the pointed conical perfectly. This pistol certainly is serious bit of kit loaded up with 35 to 50 grains of BP. Shot the 1861 and 1862 with 20 grains 3f Swiss and .375 balls over lubed wads. Tried a conical in the 1861 from a batch I got somewhere and it was very hard to ram home and deformed due to the rounded rammer. So I only loaded one which shot fine. I may modify a rammer some day as I have a quantity of the .36 conicals I would like to shoot up. The little 1862 was the star of the shooting session, what a neat little piece, I am very happy with it.

My first muzzleloading rifle showed up yesterday.

Took my first 3 shots today. 50 grns pyrodex rs, .490 hornady rb, round lubed homebrew patch. 40 yds off a rest.

My eyes aint what they used to be even with these fiber dayglow sights.

Out of the box, all 3 on paper at 40 yds. Each one a bit higher than the last. Need to find my lead sled.

Food looks amazing, family looks amazing and last but not least the gun looks amazing😁😀

Took my lovely wife to the range this morning. She finally got to learn how to load and shoot her .50 Hawken. She did real well, which makes me happy. When we returned home she learned how to take it down and clean it as well. I am proud of her.

Finally took my .54 GPR and was able to put a very few shots through it before a thunderstorm showed up and put an end to that. But that's okay for this ole boy because it was most important to me to see her learn ML shooting.

After cleaning our rifles I had to do a little tweaking on the front sight on my GPR while the rear sight needed a little work to get secure.

Today I only looked forward to doing some shooting.
With a real feel of 95 it's a sudden change I'd like to stay out of. Ease into it slowly so to speak, lol.

Plus all these posts I've been reading about humidity affecting powder so much if stops working has me wondering...

Your a lucky Man @ETipp
Thank you, TDM. I am blessed to have her for my wife going on 28 years now. My hope is to get her proficient and confident enough to go after deer with her Hawken this fall. She has hunted and killed several mule deer by herself when we lived in Montana and Idaho but with unmentionables. On the last occasion she gutted it and packed it out herself. She also has hunted and killed grouse by herself. She once shot a blue grouse out of a tree with a pistol.

What I wanted to do today and yesterday was attend a shoot that is a fair drive away but wa stopped short by a puddle of antifreeze under the radiator! So I chanced pulling the boat to a very nearby lake and doing some fishing.

Eve9more ml content! While loading gear into the back of the car I found, amongst the rubble, my horn stopper that went missing a while back.

Hope that's a satisfactory amount of ml content.

Over the moon!! took delivery today of my new Pietta Colt 1851 Navy. It was advertised as having a brass frame and I paid 185 Euros, just to use the gun for plinking with reduced rounds. Turns out it was advertised wrongly, and has a steel frame! I reckon I got a bargain for about 150 Euros less than I should've paid!
