My son and I did a woods walk shoot today with 15 stations. He out shot me too. He also hit the running Bear. Thanks to @Grimord for inviting us down to the Niantic Sportsman club. What a good group of guys. We just finished before the rain.
Glad you enjoyed yourselves. I was great to finally meet you guys. You are most welcome to our shoot on the 24th. I have been told it will most likely be a line shoot. we are going to recover the targets in the woods for use next year. By the end of the month, the woods will be too thick, and the shooting lanes to the targets will be overgrown. Hope to see you in a few weeks.

Thank you kindly I take a red tablet twice a day and an immunology infusion every 14 days got another scan 24 April In fact the whole process had little unpleasantness or any effects so don’t be scared if anyone have to go through it , they say I should make 90 but 80 next year 1 feel 45 still. Ultrasound kills a tumours in 7 mins but early days yet. Started in 2006 a pea in my kidney. Such is life I wish you well

Turned into a few .600's Sunday afternoon......I'm ready for some smoothbore action!

Finished inletting the lock on the percussion to flintlock conversion. Normally I'm a very patient person, however in this particular case I decided to shoot the rifle before re-finishing / touching up the bare wood. The front sight is dull like the brass inlays, so I'm going to have to polish it to be able to see it better. Target is the usual steel at 25 yards with some shots existing from the smoothbore to flintlock conversion.

Unfortunately inletting over an existing lock mortise has left a few minor gaps in the bottom of the new lock mortise. Trying to decide if it is worth my time to attempt to remove the hump behind the hammer, it would require a complete redo of the breech plug tang shape, then more stock removal. 🤔

Full picture on some ash stumps. Overall profile isn't too bad and the original builder done a wonderful job on the inletting of the inlays.View attachment 131887

The steel target, looks like the front sight could go right (corrected previously posted left, Thanks Ames).View attachment 131888
Someone on the forum mentioned that if you have a "slight" gap and there isn't a finish on the gun yet that putting water on the wood will make it swell, maybe you could try that?

Received first traditional shooting bag for me to own from Townsends. Seems pretty nice. Thick leather. Balistol soaking into it now.

Finished up a project with Hugo, product is in the mail---Now working on a knife layout with TWO FEATHERS its going to be a Kephart blade. That will finish up this years projects MAYBE.

Ordered several items from the Log Cabin Shop including a 60" gun case, some screws and some Laurel mountain forge stain.

I could have wrapped the makeover up today but found a couple if faint fingerprints in the sideplate panel where I didn't wipe the excess finish off well enough and touched the gun so I put one more coat on that area.

One thing that people don't know about TC triggers is they are as rough as a wash board but the roughness is hidden under a coat of bluing. I found this in a couple of guns I reworked so now I polish the trigger bars and the sear make them silky smooth.

I checked the front trigger pull on a unpolished trigger set and it came out to 7.8#, Because I have a coat of finish drying on the gun I can't check the polished trigger pull until tomorrow but I suspect it will be less than the rough trigger.

A normal rough TC trigger with the bluing sanded off.

I polish triggers like I polish brass, 220, 400, emery cloth and a Dremel buffing wheel.

Both the front and the set bar polished.

I like to polish the lock sear where it contacts the trigger bars as well, here it is before I polished it.

And after a polishing;
