    nipple blew out!

    That happened to my underhammer a while back. I ended up using a .010 oversize thread nipple and has worked fine ever since. Went with .010 cause .005 did not feel like enough.

    I remember reading here before that numrich barrels on the underhammers had a "tight" barrel. I shoot .433 balls in mine, she likes them!!

    Just to be accurate, not picky....But the nipple threads into the chamber..its not all one piece. Nice work by the way.

    Walruskid,.....I am curious about your spacer. does it just rest beneath the nipple, or is it welded? my original nipple stripped and blew out last year and now i use a 1/4x28 .10 oversize that does protrude into the barrel. it does shoot fine but i do remove the nipple to clean. just curios...

    I have the same rifle and the same blowout happened to me. The gunsmith I took it to put in a 1\4x28 .10 oversize nipple, as opposed to 1\4x32,my threads were also gone. It has been fine ever since. FYI...60 grains Pyrodex FFG, nice tight groups!

    Barrel wall thickness is thick, but where the nipple is threaded it is recessed into the barrel, thus giving only about 1/8 inch material to thread into.

    More details Its a Numrich H&A model the Offhand. Im shooting, or was shootong 70 g of ffg pyrodex,and .440 horandy ball, been working fine for 3 months. Is that too much?? Yes it seems pretty thin where the nipple threads into. Thanks for all your help guys.

    Well it blew into my hand just below my thumb and drew some blood. I also picked some threads out of my hand. All and all I was more ****** my gun was broke! I never did find the nipple, and it was VERY loud. my ears were ringing.

    The nipple of my .45 cal. H&A underhammer blew out, stripped out when I pulled the trigger. Can I repair this, oversize nipple or other repair, or is my barrel just shot? Thanks

    Under hammer gun

    I have the same rifle you just got . Very good rifle and fast ignition. I have seen some on this site say closest thing to an inline.
