Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

Shooting off hand is tough. No matter how easy Hickock45 makes it seem. Something that might help is sight picture. Instead of trying to hold it dead still, instead do a very small figure 8 across the target. With the center of the 8 being the target as you squeeze the trigger. I haven't...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Replaced the factory wide V sight on the Renegage with a buckhorn. Have to wait until Friday to see if any adjustments are needed.

    Kibler price increase

My .40 SMR has been on order for a couple of weeks. If there was a fowler kit available, it would be on order as well. :)

    Renegade re finishing

All done, just waiting on the buckhorn rear sight to arrive. Will surely be able to send some balls through it this weekend.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Added what should be the final coat of Tried and True to the Renegade stock. Just need to re black the metal bits and install a new rear sight and this project will be done.

Was a Fowler sometimes a Musket?

My understanding is it is a general term. Smooth bore guns, elegant and easily wielded, smaller smooth bores , designed for hunting were fowlers. Larger bore, heavier built, destined for military use were muskets.

    Renegade re finishing

The leather pad lives on it, never comes off. For LOP increase more than recoil. And I had oak on hand already. Sturdy hard wood. Function over form.

    Ballistol is top notch... not!

I use it liberally for black powder gun cleanup. Seems to do a fine job in removing powder residue. Cut it with water and scrub away. Also makes a good cologne. :)

Exactly. Folks do it as they have done until an issue happens. Or maybe they are tinkering with accuracy or other fine tuning. Then they adjust. I am a firm beliver that there needs to be a barrier (other than the ball) between the powder and the air. Tried grease on top of ball and for me...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Finished the butt stock extension to increase LOP and mounted plate. Leather wrapped pad will be used as well so the colors won’t be visible. 2 coats of medium walnut Danish oil added. Will work on final finish and re assemble this weekend. Won’t be real fancy but will be serviceable.
