Carolina gun had to sit a spell so .... I just took the N.W. down the " in the rough " by taking down the forearm and forestock . The mortices need to be taken to roughed in shape for the whole gun to be " in the rough " but ....darn close . Zipped through it pretty quick before lazy evening time . its hangin on the wall. :)

LOL !! I gotta keep it close..I keep taking it down and making " bang bang " noises ! Im excited ! :)
Rob I’m thinking if you put your new trade gun some place besides above the door ,like a closet or some place out of site you might be able to keep her .Well you know out of site out of mind. Lol😁

Don’t finish it or you will not have it for more than two weeks afterwards!
So funny you would say that ! When I was working on it I was thinking of my buddy Edson Myers , an old-time gunsmith , helped me get started back in the early 90s , great guy. Any who ...when he wanted to keep a gun he would never finish it . I'd always wondered for years why his N.W. trade gun wasn't sanded smooth and didn't have a finish coat on it , never knew why but Ken Netting just told me last year .Every time he finished his gun someone would love it and make him an offer he couldn't refuse , and they always needed the money , so he'd lose his gun and have to start another .LOL ! I guess I'm carrying on his tradition . :)

Start of the rear sight on my N.W. gun ... Incredible pain in the arse this way , you can't dovetail them in authentic sized barrels , too thin esp. when this far forward , but when its done it'll help tremendously to extend the range of ye old Fuke

Refining mortices and forestock a bit ... Slabbed off extra thickness of S.P. mortice first then refined it ... Bent barrel a bit more and took front blade down a bit . Might shoot it again today see if any difference ....we'll see ....
