    Bend hinge portion just shy of 180 degrees,put pin section that is longer than hinge is wide in the fold, put fold in vise so the tube to be formed and pin is just above jaws and tighten vise.     Determining sight locations??

    I dont like to "guess" the location but instead test until there isnt any more fuzzy outline .And since I build for myself now I want the sights as clear as possible and not just close . When I built my first in late 70's the rear sight was at 10" from breech and of late need to be 11,11-1/2"...

    Another thing that comes into play if the rifle is for you to be one shooting it is focus point . Positioning it where you can see clear sight picture needs to be considered also. Double sided carpet tape on rear site base ban be used to check this before cutting dovetail.

    Never have benched my Italian Colt 1860 5.5" , 28grs fffg KIK , oxyoke lubed wad , .454 cast pure lead , RWS caps shot from 25 yds two hand hold , 6 oclock sighting.5 shots .

    Water with a touch of water soluable oil . Just enough WSO to make it like 2% milk . A.K.A. Moose Milk . :thumbsup: Although I shoot 90% of time with saliva moistened patches and clean up with water and Dawn dish soap.
