    mixed bag

I just talked to Nate M. today. He was at the Eastern PA Longrifle show in Myerstown, PA. He makes some nice rifles. Mtn. Rifle

    Bob Paris guns

I finally took some pictures of the gun. I was fascinated to see a Nicholas Hawke swivelbreech at the Artisan's show in Lewisburg. My gun appears to have been copied after it. It's a Paris action and barrels. Barrels are 38" long, tapered, 50 cal., one rifled and one smooth. Gun was built...

    My gun shot a buck!.....

In this case the butcher is a man from our church who doesn't have a regular full time job. If I took a deer and said I'd like his help but couldn't pay he'd process it for me anyway. Normally though when he does everything from skinning to wrapping and freezing he suggests $55. That's what he...

    My gun shot a buck!.....

I was surprised that it had gone so far when I saw where the holes were when we got to the deer. I didn't help gut or skin but the butcher said the ball went through the shoulder muscles just behind the bones right below the shoulder blades. It was nearly perfectly broadside so I think that...

    My gun shot a buck!.....

But it was my 'loaner' and I wasn't carrying it. A few of us were hunting close to home here and had over 30 deer moving including 2 good bucks and about 5 smaller ones. My cousins each missed a shot and then a big group came running up to our 15 yr. old friend. He made a good 40? yd shot...

    Double Rifles, who's using them?

I recently got a .50 caliber swivelbreech flintlock. I plan to hunt with it once I figure out what loads it likes. It weighs in the 8 lb. range, about the same as my TC Renegade so I don't think I'll mind the weight.

    Bob Paris guns

Does anybody have a gun made by Bob Paris or a gun with a barrel or other parts made by him? I just got a swivelbreech with .50 cal. barrels 38" long, one rifled and one smooth. The action and barrels are by Paris. I'd like to hear about how nice your guns are, esp. swivelbreeches. Thanks

    after market barrel

I think it would be a custom job. RMC Sports has a .32 cal. barrel for a pretty good price actually,at least I think so, but I don't know of a .36 or .40.

Shot my Lyman Deerstalker for the first time today

Did the rod tip actually break off or did you possibly unscrew it? I've heard of putting a grease zerk in the touchhole and pumping something out of the barrel with a grease gun. Hopefully somebody else can give you a good action plan. A gunsmith could take the breech out and push it through...

GM 58-32x1" 1-70 drop in barrel for T/C

I think that Lyman GPR's use a 15/16" barrel. I don't think anybody makes a .58 or bigger in that barrel size, drop-in or otherwise.

    Percussion to flint

I haven't talked to either of those. I'll have to check them out. Thanks! Mtn. Rifle

    Percussion to flint

I probably would have bought the barrel a year ago if it had been available when I called and talked to both TC and GM. I'm looking for a flint barrel in .54 and 15/16" across the flats. I haven't called either of them again so if you know that they do in fact currently offer a barrel like this...

    Percussion to flint

I forgot to mention that I want to do this for a TC Hawken flintlock. I'm not sure if that changes your answer at all or not. Mtn. Rifle

    Percussion to flint

What all is involved if I were to try to convert a drop-in Green Mtn. 15/16" .54 cal. percussion barrel to flintlock? Is it very complicated? Does anybody know who would do something like that? I'd appreciate your thoughts and comments. Thanks Mtn. Rifle

    T/C Flintlock rifles

Yes, at one time they offered a .54 flint Hawken. Also a .58 in a Renegade.

    PA late season

I definitely plan to go out some. You're too far north for me though. I do 5b, 5c and 4c. I've heard about some bucks in areas we hunt but I plan to take whatever comes first. Mtn. Rifle

I got a surprise this weekend!

In PA there's a drawing for tags and only about half or a little more of the state is open to hunting or trapping. I saw one once in a no hunting zone. Fascinating! Mtn. Rifle
