Club setting up first blackpowder shoot

I don't have an " official " club but I hold a lot of BP shoots at my range. Let your imagination run wild and think outside the box. Build a moving target with a jerk line[easy to do], for a shoot off, build a wooden horse and have the people that tied get on the horse. The trick is the horse...

    inlay for Lyman GPR

I would like to do some inlay on my Lyman GPR stock. Is there some one that has done this before? and what are some suggestions on how to do it. Will I have to sand down the whole stock and re-oil it to make it look right? Any help would be appreciated. Bob :)

Common ML things that drive you nuts...

Ticks tick me off but Black Powder anything is great with the exception of going to a BP show and finding a table with plastic beads and pink feathers trying to make a pipe look good. :cursing:

    Could have been deadly

10 years ago I bought a 54 cal t/c renegade. I didn't like the compromize on the barrel so I ordered a green mountain 1/66 and it was great. I went modern for two years {big mistake } and came across a left handed Lymans for a steal and sold my t/c and the two barrels to a best friend of mine.He...

    Buck fever

Share your story about your buck fever or some you have seen. For me it came on the last day of hunting BP and I was coming around the last corner before I could see my house and there in my path was the biggest buck I have ever seen in a place I least exspected it. Probably a state record. I...

What's your favorite style of muzzleloader

Sure we would all want some of those fancy hand made rifles but living back in reality I'll take my Lymans GPR 54.1/60. It's just a clean good looking gun that shoots well. Bob

    Fairness to game

I always figured I should give the same respect to a deer that I would to my mother-in-law. Make it clean and put it out of it's misery. Hay just kidding :blah: Bob

    Roundball

I shoot round ball because I can't get the square ones to fit. :rotf: Bob

Longest shot you'll take offhand without a rest?

If it's a doe I would say 100 to 125 yards, If it's a big buck with a huge rack it would be about 2 to 3 yards because my heart starts pounding, my eyes start to water and my vision starts to blur. That darn buck fever gets me every time. Bob

Describe what kind of a ML Shooter you are

Me shoots front stuffers because the womens loves me and the bears fear me and I'm home on the range where the deer and the antilope play. And I like the smell of black powder with my first cup of coffee in the morning. Bob

    Average Practice Distances ?

I'm lucky and have my own range. I shoot at 50 and 100 yards and I have a 50 yard running target. Most of my deer kills have always been 50 yards and under. Bob

    It's a shame!

I think one has to look at the intent of orriginal muzzle loading today.Yester year it was to survive, today it's to have some fun and try to relive some of the feeling of yester year. When it gets legalistic like everything else man has put his hands to , the fun stops. Bob

    Horn

Mudd Turtle I've been making horns for about ten years now and have found out that if you want a horn only to hang over the mantle get the big ones like some of these other fellows reccomend but if you want one to hunt with go for a 6 to 8 inch horn. It's easyer to carry, it's lighter and...

    Our sports future?Part 2...

My wife and I joined a mountain man club for about five years and we invited a number of frainds but then some things changed. Some of the new members thought that a rondy was a good reason to get drunk and fight, some would make fun of the nubies because they were not always right in their...
