    Tears in my eyes!!!

True... David Crockett did not take the fancy rifle given to him during his time in congress to Texas. He took his old reliable "Betsey." I prefer my old rough, reliable, and versatile Charleville.

    Cleaning powder channel?

That seems like a good idea. How many spurts of air can one get out of a CO2 cartridge when using it to clean the channel? I have never owned one.

Whats so great about real black powder?

Lol, sorry I never got to fully explain myself as to why real BP is better, but it seems that others did better than I could have done. I slipped away to shoot shortly after my first post.

Whats so great about real black powder?

Don't have much use for that stuff. Use real blackpowder Swiss FF for everything.

    preignition launch

This is my biggest fear. Its an ever present boogie man haunting me everytime I shoot. I pace myself slowly so this does not happen.

There is a special patent breach bronze brush just for that.

    Leather vs. Lead setting flints

I find the rough side gets a good grip on the ever elusive flint whereas the teeth on the hammer grab the smooth part of the leather.

    Leather vs. Lead setting flints

I have always used leather in my Charleville and Brown Bess. No bad things have ever happened.

    Die and Tap Question

Hello, This may seem like a dopey question, but I have never used a die before. I used a Tap size 1/4-20 to make a threaded hole. What size Die do I need to make a fitting bolt? (1/4-20 seems obvious to me but I just want to be sure before I go out and buy a Die.) Thanks!

Where can you Shoot, what is the travel time, and cost to shoot.

Local gun club range has a rifle range up to 200yards and two pistol ranges. I pay $125 a year membership fees. It is about 8 miles away from my house. I seem to be the only black powder shooter there.

Mail Order/Online Muzzleloading Supply Back Order Policy

I like ordering from Dixie Gun Works and Buffalo Arms for supplies, and Powder Inc. for blackpowder. That should cover everything.

    How often?

Lol, that's what I call them now. They are those german agate cut flints, they look like they could glow in the dark due to unholy energies. They certainly don't look right in a flintlock if you are going to reenact, but they were cheap and I'll use them on the range. And I did... fired 15...

    How often?

I just bought some atomic flints. Going to shoot the Charleville this morning so I'll let you know if they were any good.

    Tried something new, today

I switched over to Swiss 2f some time ago. I use it in everything including my Lemat and have notcied better performance then when I used Goex 3f in it.

    Video from shooting yesterday....

You have steady aim, The Force is strong with you, but you are not a Jedi yet. Real Blackpowder use you must.

Just an observation about muzzle loading, in general

Sir, you are 100 percent correct. I have fired all kinds of weaponry and the most fun are the black powder muzzleloaders!

paper cartridges for cap and ball revolvers

I used to make the paper cartridges with doobie paper, but I got tired of it and having to buy the papers. I then progressed to making my own paper. I got some thin paper and in some warm water I dissolved some black powder. I soaked the paper in it and then line dried it. Nice burning paper...
