    T/C Trigger Adjustments

The front trigger most move forward far enough for the rear trigger bar to engage the set notch on the right side of the front trigger. Try holding the front trigger forward and see if the rear bar will engage in the front trigger. this can all be functioned and looked at with the trigger...

    T/C Hawken Old vs. New

Mark,Quite a few TC stocks crack at the lock bolt hole, i beleive it happens at the lower limit of the front tang wood screw. the new TC tang bolt is threaded into the trigger guard, it passes through the front of the trigger plate via a hole but is not threaded to the trigger plate itself. You...

    TC Lock parts interchangability

I get the impression mainsprings are different as Cains lists mainspring-flint and mainspring-percussion. Have no idea what the difference is but the redesigned flintlock may have something to do with it.

    Optimum Diameter For A Jag?

In "Recreating the American Longrifle" the following sizes are listed: cal jag .32 .300 .36 .330 .40 .370 .45 .420 .50 .470 .54 .510 .58 .540 these seem to work pretty well and are more or less standard for jags you buy. I have found that wiping between shots on humid...

BIG Thanks & GM Barrel vent liners

Roundball is correct, i did the same with improved results over the GM supplied liners.

    TC Hawken stocl

zukeeper1, huntsman247; The set triggers can stay with no problems. Of the three i did, one fitted perfectly, one required a very minimun of wood removal to allow the bolster to fit snug aganist the barrel (less than 1/64" more like light scraping in the lock mortice), and on the other just a...

    TC Hawken stocl

The .54 was orginally a .54 caplock 1". GM, at least a few years ago, made a 1" .54 flint barrel which fit the TC, thier "IBS" series. The other Hawken and Cougar were 15/16" barrels which i am sure they still carry.

    TC Hawken stocl

Yes they will. Have converted 3 caplocks to flint( 2 Hawkens,.50 and .54 and a Cougar) with no problems. I should add i changed the locks to TC flintlocks and installed Green Mountian flint barrels. I understand changing a caplock barrel to flint is a much larger job, the breechplug must be...

    Tang bolts

FWIW. Thompson Center used only a wood screw to secure the front of the tang, because of cracking in and around the lock and lock bolt area they have gone to a bolt which passes through the trigger plate and threads into the trigger guard.

    Set Triggers on T/C Hawken

You can remove the trigger assembly and operate and see all the functions as if it were installed. The rear trigger works aganist a heavy flat spring and latches in a sear on the front trigger. The adjustment screw controls how far the nose of the rear trigger engages with the sear on the front...

    TC problems....again

Roundball is right on, have had Tom Fuller BEF 3/4 x 7/8 go 120 shots with one or two knappings. The average is easily 50-60 shots.

    Cougar

Or you could convert it to flint. I have one, installed a stainless steel Firestorm lock and a GM 50 cal flint IBS barrel, looks great and shoots very good. Just wish GM made an IBS in 15/16" rifled 54 cal flint. They do make 54 percussion!

    54 GPR Flinter

The 54 GPR is a great shooter, all the things Pasquenel mentioned help, on mine i found the touch hole liner extended into the powder well by almost 1& 1/2 threads (a place for fouling to gather) shortened the liner and coned the back side, opened the flash hole to .070 (#50 drill), have not had...

    GPR FLASH in the pans

On my GPR the liner also extended into the powder well by almost 1&1/2 threads. Shortened and coned it then drilled it out to .070 (#50 drill) and things really improved. If .070 doesnt work then by all means go to 5/64 (about .078). Good luck.

    New Green Mountain Barrel

ndbilly, i put a GM 54 barrel on a TC hawken flinter. It shot very good (a ragged hole about 2 inches in diameter off the bench) after about 100 rounds with a 535 ball, .022 mattress tickin, moose snot, and 70 grs 3f or 80 grs 2f, same POI. BTW the GM recommendation is: Hunting-535...

    Drilled Touch hole

I have a GPR flint .54 and am very pleased with ignition after the following steps: The liner extended into the powderwell by approx 1&1/2 threads so i shortened it. The inside i coned as much as possible and ensured a .045 web remained. The outside was given a very shallow cone. The hole...

    gpr question?

FWIW i went to .070 (#50 drill) in both my GPR and TC flintlocks and am very happy with the result. Tried .078 (think that is 5/64 ?)worked great also with about 2" lower elevation at 50 yds. Would suggest .070 unless ignition is intermittent. Good luck.

    GPR conversion to flint?

Bowmaker, Am not sure what the stock was origonally. You are right that lyman implies that if you convert to flint you can not go back however i wonder if that is with lyman locks only. Would it work if you used L&R locks for both flint and percussion? Maybe someone can shed more light on this...

    GPR conversion to flint?

I aquired a GPR stock without lock or barrel. Ordered a 54 flint barrel from Lyman and installed an L&R RPL flintlock. The gun balances nicely and shoots great, one ragged hole over the bench at 50 yds wilh cast 535 ball, .022 mattress ticking, moose snot and 70 grs 3f. Ignition is fast with no...
