    crocket .32 cal pistol

I've got one too, had for about a year. My wife bought it for xmas for me. Anyway, I have the rattle deal too but have learned to deal with it. I put just a bit of pressure on trigger, till the rattle is conquered, and then a bit more and it goes off. I've learned to just develop a feel for...

    CVA Bobcat .50

I'm aware of the deer creek, and I think October Country also bought up all the discontinued bobcats from CVA that they could get their greedy little hands on. At that time, you and I also could call the CVA factory and get one for 50$. Anyway, October Country and Deer Creek bought them all...

    Caps for Bobcat

Hmm, Always interesting to get a new perspective on things. I agree that bp is much preferred over the substitutes. Unfortunately its getting harder to get BP. I do have plenty for me though. Anyway, when the chips are down, I still like to use musket caps and not worry about if there might...

    Well I bought another one

Ok, here's the deal on the bobcats.... CVA no longer makes them, unless they made a major corporate decision change that I'm not aware of in the last three months or so. CVA was bought out by a company named blackpowder inc, and like so many other manufacturers, they've decided to use a...

    Caps for Bobcat

If you're basically looking for a hotter ignition, I stumbled on some musket nipples designed to work with cva sidelocks and snatched them up. I don't remember where I got them, but I put one on one of my bobcats, figured theres more volume of flame with the musket nipple and therefore better...

    "richardson boot pistol"

Anyone fire one of these? (.36 cal boot pistols) I've seen them listed recently in the shotgun news, etc for like 50$ from Southern Ohio Guns. They're .36 caliber with a screw off removable barrel I think, and listed as a backup piece used by mariners, etc around the civil war. Wonder how...

Black Powder "magnum" pistol from England?

    lymann GP pistol in Illinois

Since when? I've bought 2 lyman great plains pistols from midsouth. Now they require an ffl to get em? That's news to me....

    CVA MT STALKER

It orginally went for like 70 bux at Bass Pro shops. He's trying to hose you, that price is too high. Problem is there arent any black powder rifles being made at that price point anymore.

    CVA Bobcat Diagram?

Another bobcat thought. The only complaint I had when I fired mine was that the thing had "hangfires" between the cap snap and the pyrodex going off. I much prefer bp but its getting harder to get, and I dont like to use my bp for target shooting...more of a when the chips are down scenario...

    cva bobcat?

The Lyman deerstalker is a better rifle then the Bobcat I'm sure, but I love the bobcat. I picked up one renamed the "mountain stalker" at a Bass proshops about 2 years ago and was surprised to find it's pretty accurate with round ball. I typically use about 80 or 90 grains ffg in it, and I...

First shots with new GPH barrel...I'm impressed!!

hmm lubing the reals with lee liquid alox... why didnt i think of that? I havent been able to do diddly with them with beeswax/crisco type lube. I dont get a snug enough fit. I'm gonna try that... You pretty happy with the snugness of fit with the lee reals using alox? Or do they slide in...

A couple of Kentucky Pistol questions

CDG- If you can afford it, consider the lyman's plains pistol. They run about 170$ or so from midsouth shooters supply. I'm very happy with mine, and I believe their better quality then the traditions or the cva hawkens. Ive found mine loves non-traditional sabot loads, probably because it...

    looking for a hammer

I'm in need of a cheap hammer for a project gun I'm working on. Any old cva or traditions hammer will probably do. Anyone have a spare?

    musket nipples for cva rifles?

Does anyone (including CVA) manufacture a musket nipple that will fit standard cva caplock rifles, the ones that use a 6x1mm nipple? I'd like to take advantage of the hotter, more reliable ignition of a musket nipple. I prefer using black powder, but sometimes I resort to pyrodex, and I've...

repair advice for Jukar Kentucky Pistols

I got a good deal on a pair of Jukar Kentucky Pistols in .45 caliber. The one needs a new drum/nipple combination as well as a new nosecap (there's a hairline crack in the nosecap.) The nosecap looks very similar to the one in the Traditions Kentucky pistol kit manual. Anyway... My...

Traditions Kentucky Pistol Anyone like it?

What are everyone thoughts on the traditions Kentucky Pistol, for around 136$ plus shipping? How does it measure up to the lyman great plains (which I love). Are there quality control issues other then it being a tad plainer then the lymans plains pistol? How does it shoot?
