I need ideas for a horn strap

That is an incredible horn! I may have to try something like it one day. I made a leather drinking flask for my son once, it was a killer whale with the tail as the cork. this horn is truly a work of art! Kirby

    New bag...need ideas for strap

If you want to use the same thin leather, cut out a 5" circle then cut a 1/8 inch string spirally around until the circle of leather is used up. make several of these strings and you can then twist them into cordage for a strap or twist them individually and the weave them into a wider strap! Front Sight on a GPR

I can't answer your actual question, but I had a similar issue so I filed the sides of my front sight with a small round file to make it into a post style. Then rounded off the top into a ball shape. I like the way it works for me. Kirby

    Need advice for GPR kit

When I built my first this year, I removed all the parts filed, sanded a bit and then browned them. Then I reinstalled after finishing the stock.I left the lock alone as it has a case hardened color to it that seemed fine to me. just my 2 cents. Kirby

    Ball Bags

what kind of grain? well I used wheat. I live near a lot of wheat fields and was able to get a bag of wheat kernels. I put them in the wet leather and let it dry then dumped the wheat out and ran a few metal nuts around in there to knock any remaining kernels loose. The moisture didn't seem...

    First Horn - Have Questions

Black and or dark brown Rit dye. I find it in Walmart with the laundry stuff. I heat the water up in a coffee can using about 1/4 of the liquid dye that came in the plastic bottle. I learned this from others here on this forum. Kirby

    cooking fire set

For grilling meat, just lay the meat directly on the hot coals of your fire. Once the meat is seared the coals brush off and the meet cooks just like it was on a grill. I have done this several times with good success. Just make sure you have a clean set of coals, you never know how a previous...

    Shoots excellent but LOW

I was shooting low so I filed my front sight as well, only didn't reduce it's height I filed it so I could consistently raise the front sight higher as measured against the rear. I posted drawings in another thread Here I shoot pretty consistently with this configuration. Kirby

Type of wood for a round ball block

I made my first one a couple weeks ago, it split on me when I tried using a different brand of ball. They must have been a bit bigger. Anyway I think a real knotty hard wood might be better. Like a rough old piece of Osage or Curly maple? Then make the holes just big enough that the patch...
